REUSE/
ZLD
/MLD

Reusing and recycling industrial water can reduce the load on our water resources and avoid the need to discharge it to the sewer and/or environment. Referring to the critical conditions of water resources in the world and especially in our country, as well as pollution of groundwater and rivers, recycling of wastewater is assumed to be highly essential. Aligned with this, Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD) systems have received increasing popularity as efficient solutions to eliminate effluents and reuse water from industrial processes, desalination plants, and municipal wastewater treatment plants.

Our services range from technology development, design and engineering, procurement and construction to operation and maintenance for both industry and municipalities for water and waste water treatment and furthermore to the oil and gas industries and packages.

LEARN MORE

SHAFAB Company delivers the above mentioned systems in three main categories using the state-of-the-art technologies:

  • Primary wastewaters reuse refers to advanced treatment process such as A2O, ANOMAX, SBR with conventional RO with 70% water is recovery
  • A combination of high-rate chemical softening process used by MLD and other new pretreatment technologies and High efficiency RO technologies, with 90% water recovery
  • ZLD as an advanced wastewater treatment method that aimed to recover the whole liquid. Typically used as a complement to the MLD, achieved through technologies such as high tech evaporators and Forced Circulation Crystallizer.

With appropriate processing, which in some conditions may include treatment, the industrial water can be exploited in a wide range of purposes such as cooling or other industrial feed water demands.

Some water reuse application in an industrial plant includes but is not limited to the followings:

  • RO reject recovery and reuse
  • Cooling tower blow down in heavy industry and power plants
  • Spent caustic
  • Ion exchange regenerative streams
  • Flue gas desulfurization, wet wastewater stream
  • Municipal potable water systems, wastewater streams
  • Process water reuse from agricultural, industrial and municipal streams
  • Various industrial wastewater streams from the textile, coal-to-chemical, food and dairy or battery industries

Despite the variable sources of a wastewater stream, a ZLD system is generally comprised of two stages, which are presented hereunder:

  • Pre-Concentration: Pre-concentrating the brine is usually achieved by membrane brine concentrators or electrodialysis (ED). These technologies concentrate the stream to a high salinity and are able to recover up to 60–95% of the water.
  • Evaporation/Crystallization: Thermal processes or evaporation, evaporates all the water leftover, collect it, and drives it for reuse. The waste that is left behind then goes to a crystallizer, which boils the water until its impurities crystallize and are filtered out as a solid.

SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS.
FOR A BETTER LIFE.

In the equipment supply and procurement, this has close commercial deals with internationally approved and popular manufacturers across the Europe for valves, control system, pumps and etc., as per the industry requirements. Shafab is proud of continuous development in its engineers’ knowledge through endless training aiming to expand the R&D sector’s expertise. At the same time, these activities are supported with technical interaction with international R&D centers across the world which has made us the bests.
